Cornwall to London flights resume as Skybus takes over route

Flights were cancelled last month after previous operator Eastern went into administration and grounded its fleet

Flights between Cornwall Airport Newquay and London Gatwick have resumed. The first flight operated by Isles of Scilly carrier Skybus took off on Sunday.

Skybus was awarded a short-term contract to cover the route by Cornwall Council following the collapse of Eastern Airways last month.

Flight times, baggage allowances and check-in arrangements will remain unchanged for passengers travelling on the route, Skybus has confirmed.

Flights will be operated for Skybus by Ascend Airways, a º£½ÇÊÓƵ airline, using a Boeing 737 aircraft. Operations will take place under the Air Transport Licence of Aurigny.

From early December, Skybus will transition to a Q400 78-seat turboprop aircraft.

"All passengers will receive a dedicated email with the specific arrangements for the flights on which they are booked," Skybus said in a statement on its website.

"Flights are available to book now, and we will shortly be releasing Summer 2026 services between Cornwall Airport Newquay and London Gatwick."

Skybus has been operating in Cornwall for more than 40 years and offers a year-round service flying to and from the Isles of Scilly.
