Cornish fashion brand Celtic & Co has moved into larger premises after experiencing a rapid surge in sales.
The “pioneering, digitally native” retailer of ethically-sourced, natural and sustainable knitwear, footwear and outerwear has signed a lease for the refurbished former Crantock Bakery premises at Indian Queens and said it made the move to ensure the success from the past fiscal year stays strong.
In March 2021 it reported a 75% increase in sales to £15.5m as the Covid lockdowns fuelled online shopping and the demand for comfortable clothing.

The new location provides about. 24,000sq ft combining warehouse space with a modern, internal office block, allowing the company to expand its growing online and mail order business.
Karl Headleand, head of operations at Celtic & Co, said: “The new office and warehouse space is a great step forward for us, allowing all departments to continue to grow.
“Keeping everyone under one roof helps to maintain the team and family ethos we have built over the past 30 years. Being closer to the A30 means we can have later collections and earlier deliveries, which will be a real benefit for our warehouse team and in turn will provide a better and faster service to our customers.”
The company has been located at Treloggan Industrial Estate since 2002, with more office premises added in 2005. The warehouse has shared a building with the company’s own factory for sheepskin boots and slippers; the latter will stay in the 15,000sq ft structure in Newquay.

In March 2020 it was revealed that the business’ full-year sales growth jumped from £8.9milion to £15.5million with all footwear and clothing categories significantly up year-on-year. Sales increased by about 80% year-on-year for the autumn/winter 2020 season.
The company sells directly to customers through its website and call centre and has sent orders to more than 60 countries across the globe.
Celtic & Co has managed to significantly increase sales numbers year-on-year in each key geographical territory including the 海角视频, US, Germany, Canada and Australia.
International sales exceeded 31% of all sales in 2020 and grew by 88% year-on-year, from £2.6million in 2019 to £4.9million in 2020.

Celtic & Co began in 1990 when Nick and Kath Whitworth decided to buy a small boot making business, with just seven pairs still in stock.

They developed their sheepskin boots and became the Celtic Sheepskin Company. Rebranded as Celtic & Co, the company now employs more than 50 people and sells its range of products, from knitwear, footwear and coats to accessories and luggage, across the world.
In April 2021 the firm received a further boost when a leading character in the long-running TV show The Walking Dead wore one of its jackets.
Maggie Greene, played by British actress Lauren Cohen in the AMC TV horror series, was seen wearing a waxed riding coat made in Cornwall by Celtic & Co.
The actress was seen wearing the £215 coat in aired episodes and during filming for the forthcoming 11th and final season of the ratings winner.
