Converted family homes in Worcestershire: Church hall and school given a new lease of life

Two buildings neighbouring Stone village church have been transformed for family use, reports Alison Jones

A former church hall has been given a stunning make over, the site of beetle drives, Brownie meetings and jumble sales into a sleek and contemporary space.

Church View occupies a convenient position within the centre of Stone near Kidderminster, Worcestershire, opposite St Mary’s Parish Church – the inspiration behind its name.

The hall is now a thoroughly modern family home offering reception space, a high tech kitchen and three bedrooms, each with their own bath or shower room.

High ceilings and full length folding windows create light and airy spaces which are ideal for relaxing or entertaining in and allow easy access to the gardens.

Steps lead up to a stylish vestibule entrance with glazed entrance door. Inside is a central hallway with storage and a guest cloakroom with toilet and basin.

There is Imperiali porcelain tiling to the hallway floor and through the open access into the Hatt kitchen and breakfast room.

The kitchen features sleek storage units with Corian work surfaces, an integral washing machine, integral dishwasher, wine fridge and double oven. It has a separate utility and there are folding glazed doors from the breakfast area to a railed deck outside.

Two open accesses from the kitchen and from the hallway lead into the main living space, creating a sense of flow between these areas.
