Upmarket ready meals company Charlie Bigham’s has launched a recruitment drive for 35 positions at its Somerset kitchen, with the business expected to create more jobs as it continues to grow.

The firm, which supplies its popular Fish Pie and Chicken Tikka Masala dishes to the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s major supermarkets, is looking to add to its food production staff at its base in Dulcote, located on the site of a former quarry near Wells.

The business, which currently employs around 600 people, is looking for candidates seeking to get their first taste of the food industry with perks including a competitive bonus scheme and subsidised food and drink at the on-site café.

Patrick Cairns, chief executive of Charlie Bigham's, said: "We, as a family business, take great pride in our food and we include fresh ingredients wherever we can as well as using ingredients you would find in your kitchen at home.

"Great quality food is at the heart of everything we do and we have won lots of awards over the years.

"We're now growing very quickly so have around 35 vacancies immediately and will have an ongoing need for more people to join us.

"A variety of roles are available from cooking and preparing food to logistics and food safety. These are great opportunities for people to grow with the company as we grow."

In May the fast-growing brand, established by former management consultant Charlie Bigham in 1996, reported a 15% increase in revenue to £80.8m after it sold 18.2 million dishes in the year to August 2020.
