The owner of an ethical fashion company in Bristol has had her luxury handbags featured in a new thought-provoking film on racism.

Keri Andriana established Redland-based Amschela after being made redundant from a legal job in 2016. She attended a local sewing class and watched YouTube tutorials, and started making her own handbags - from clutches to shoulder bags to totes.

She launched the business in 2017 and it quickly attracted interest from London Fashion Week, as well as Tatler and Vogue. Amschela now has customers all over the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and a growing international community in the US, Europe and Australia.

The bags, which are set to become 100% vegan in February 2022, can now be spotted in a new film, directed by award-winning actor and producer Fredi Nwaka.

On The Other Foot is about a man called Billy Pitcher, who is racist. When his daughter tells him she is dating a black man, and tries to get him to embrace her partner's culture, he wakes up in a black person's body.

“In the light of the recent happenings around the world, the film cleverly discusses race in a comedic narrative designed to enlighten and educate a ripe audience,” a spokesperson for Amschela said.

“It highlights some of the underlying tones experienced globally on a daily basis by people of colour but done in a tasteful way so as not to offend the viewer, but while educating and captivating.

“The story is a clever comedy based in London, the heart of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ. Recent times have highlighted racial disparities and brought to light the differences that are deeply entrenched within many societies.”
