An award-winning independent brewer and pub company in Derby has started work on creating its latest outlet inside a former bank.
Derby Brewing Company has announced that it has begun converting the ex-NatWest bank branch at Mickleover into a micropub, which will be called The Hole in the Wall.
The firm, which has its own brewery in Derby producing a range of award-winning ales and craft beers, received planning permission to change the use of the building over a year ago.
Derby Brewing Company said that following some 鈥渦nexpected delays鈥 the project is now underway.
According to the firm, it is aiming to open The Hole in the Wall, the name of which is a nod to the building鈥檚 former use, in November.

Founded in 2004, the company already operates a number of pubs in the area, including two Derby venues: The Tap, in Derwent Street,聽 and The Greyhound, in Friar Gate. It also has The Kedleston Country House, in Quarndon and The Pig, in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
However, The Hole in the Wall will be the company鈥檚 first micropub.

According to Derby Brewing Company, it will have an 鈥渦pmarket local feel鈥 and have the capacity for 50 customers.
The firm said that Mickleover has long been a target location for the business as the company鈥檚 founder, Trevor Harris, once ran the nearby Vine pub for a number of years.
His son Paul, who is managaing director of Derby Brewing Company, said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e delighted to start works on this project, which has been a long time in the making, in a location we have targeted for a long time.
鈥淥ur first micropub, we look forward to showcasing our take on a great concept for the people of Mickleover.鈥
Trevor, who is director of brewing at Derby Brewing Company, said: 鈥淲e can鈥檛 wait to get our beer flowing in the heart of Mickleover, a place I have many great memories of and look forward to being part of once again.鈥
