Boohoo reviews º£½ÇÊÓƵ supply chain after Next and Asos drop its ranges over factory allegations

Boohoo Group has taken a battering in recent days, with £1 billion wiped off its share value

Boohoo clothes have been a big success

Management at Boohoo say they have brought in a senior lawyer to review its º£½ÇÊÓƵ supply chain after allegations of poor conditions and low pay in factories where its clothes are made.

The board said it was "shocked and appalled" by the recent allegations, after the Sunday Times sent an undercover reporter to work at a garment factory in Leicester.

The Manchester-based group - whose brands include Boohoo, BoohooMAN, PrettyLittleThing and Nasty Gal - has seen its market value take a battering in recent days, with £1 billion wiped off its share value.

Its share price has dropped from around £4.06 a week ago to £2.57 this morning.

It has appointed Alison Levitt QC to look into the supply chain in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and promised to rebuild the battered reputation of clothes makers in Leicester.

It comes after Next and Asos have dropped Boohoo clothing from their websites following the claims.

The Sunday Times article alleged that workers in a Leicester factory making clothes destined for Boohoo were being paid as little as £3.50 an hour.

Other online retailers, including Zalando and Very.co.uk, have also temporarily suspended the sale of Boohoo items.
