Eco-friendly cleaning company Bio-D has celebrated 30 years of business with its greenest ever year.
The Hull business, based in Bergen Way, was launched back in 1989, and today supplies a variety of ethical cleaning and household products.
Now celebrating three decades of trading, Bio-D has grown into one of Hull鈥檚 big green business success stories.
Lloyd Atkin, managing director at Bio-D, said: 鈥淏io-D was born out of a desire to deliver safe and sustainable products that are effective and affordable and made right here in the 海角视频
鈥淲e鈥檙e really proud that our 30th聽year is also our greenest, thanks to the work we have done on reducing virgin plastic consumption and the support of the independent stores who stock our products and offer Bio-D refill stations in increasing numbers.
鈥淲e are now in a position where we use 100 per cent post-consumer waste across our entire consumer range which is a fantastic achievement and something we are only able to do when plastic rubbish is collected and recycled properly.

鈥淲e all know that concerns about climate change and the environment have grown in recent years and we believe that we can continue to lead the way by offering cleaning products that we all need and which are kind to our planet.鈥
Bio-D has this year increased its staff numbers from 25 to 31.
The business also hit the headlines last year when it became one of the founding signatories of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation鈥檚 Global Commitment on plastic in 2018.
It has now introduced packaging made from 100 per cent recycled post-consumer waste plastic across its entire consumer range and its five-litre bottles which are used for refilling products.
As a result, the Hull-headquartered business has reduced the amount of virgin plastic it uses by 21 per cent, taking into account brand growth levels.

Mr Atkin said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e a relatively small team but we believe we are making a big impact and in recognition of the hard work we have done and to mark our 30th聽year, we have added a technology salary sacrifice purchase scheme and an extra day鈥檚 holiday to our employee benefits.
鈥淲e have also asked the team to think of a new year鈥檚 resolution for the company to ensure that we continue to strive to produce high-quality products that people want and the planet needs.鈥
Bio-D uses biodegradable and ethically-sourced ingredients that are vegan and cruelty-free as well as offering a hypoallergenic range that is Allergy 海角视频 certified.
The company鈥檚 focus on refills, including the launch of four new refill sizes, is also helping customers reduce their plastic consumption at home.
