A new petrol station and convenience store has been added to an East Yorkshire firm’s portfolio - the third site acquisition in the past six months.

Little over a year after it was closed by The Co-op, Beverley’s Waterside Filling Station is about to re-open, having been bought by Jos. Richardson & Son Ltd.

A total of 10 jobs are being created.

The fifth generation family business, founded in Goole, is now headquartered just outside neighbouring Howden. It operates 10 service stations and convenience stores across the county, as well as a truckstop facility.

Managing director, Joseph Richardson, said: “We’re delighted to have bought the freehold property at Waterside Filling Station, Beverley. This is an exciting opportunity for us, which we’re predominantly viewing as a convenience store offering fuel. “The store achieved good sales before it was closed and we hope to get back to that level and beyond. For the last few months, we’ve been working with our suppliers to get the site up and running, and we’re delighted to have welcomed our new Beverley-based team to the Jos. Richardson & Son family.”

A comprehensive refit has been undertaken prior to the re-opening on Wednesday, May 4.

Long-term brand partners Jet, for fuel, and Spar, for groceries, have been brought on board.
