Best Western has taken over the Quality Hotel in Hanley

Hospitality brand Best Western has taken over one of Stoke-on-Trent's biggest hotels.

The company has snapped up the 135-bed Quality Hotel, in Hanley - and has renamed it the Best Western Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Hotel.

The news comes just months after it was announced that the Best Western Moat House Hotel - based less than a mile away on Festival Park - will be taken over by DoubleTree by Hilton next year following a £6.5 million transformation.

The hotel  will be known as the DoubleTree By Hilton Stoke-on-Trent from 2020.

Best Western Great Britain chief executive Rob Paterson said: "We're delighted to welcome the Best Western Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Hotel to our family of brands.

"Best Western now has brands to suit every guest, from economy to luxury, across over 260 locations in Great Britain.

"We look forward to working in partnership with the team at the hotel to showcase and celebrate their hotel both locally and globally."

Community leaders in Stoke-on-Trent have welcomed the news that the Best Western will be retaining a presence in the city.
