Two businesses in Bath have partnered up to develop a new craft beer to mark the easing of coronavirus restrictions on the hospitality sector.

As part of the Government’s staggered roadmap out of lockdown, pubs and cafes in England are allowed to serve alcohol and food to customers sitting outside from Monday, April 12.

Electric Bear Brewing Co, based on Brassmill Lane, and café and coffee roaster Mokoko Coffee on Dorchester Street have collaborated on a new stout which has chocolate, caramel and coffee flavoured stout.

The Mokoko Chocolata drink will be available from the independent brewer’s tap room, which has been closed since December, when its outdoor seating area is opened on Friday, April 16.

Electric Bear will also be teaming up with local street traders to offer customers food options, starting with Jikoni East Africa, which specialises in dishes from Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia and Tanzania.

Commenting on the new partnership, Will Bryant, manager of the Electric Bear tap room, said: “It’s great for two hospitality businesses to come together and create something positive from the pandemic.

“Mokoko Café is renowned for their coffee roasting and we’re known for making craft beer – it’s a perfect partnership”.
