Lord Alan Sugar has announced the winner of The Apprentice for 2022.

The business tycoon whittled down the candidates on his popular BBC reality show to West Yorkshire's Harpreet Kaur and Swindon's Kathryn Burn. The pair had taken part in the first all-female semi-final in the show's history the week before.

In the final episode, the duo had three days to launch a new company, including creating branding for their business, producing a digital billboard and a television advert, before pitching it to the business mogul.

But was Ms Kaur who triumphed in the boardroom on Thursday (March 24), with Lord Sugar 'hiring' her as his next associate. She will go into partnership with the billionaire Amstrad founder, who will invest £250k in her dessert parlour company.

Ms Kaur, 30, said it was time to start ignoring gender in business as she revealed she is “hungrier than ever” after her success on the show’s 16th series.

After finding out she had been selected as Lord Sugar’s new business partner, Ms Kaur said although she is pleased to be a female winner, she believes it is time to “delete these titles” and put an end to paying attention to whether an individual in business is male or female.

She told the PA news agency: “I absolutely loved that it was an all-female final because I love empowering women, I hope that I can inspire many women that you need to follow your dreams, go and smash your goals, go and get them.

“But I also do feel that we need to sort of delete these titles out there in business, it doesn’t matter if you’re male or female. If you can set your eyes on something, and you’re going to make a success of yourself, go for it. It doesn’t really matter what gender you are.
