AO launches mentorship scheme to help young people secure digital jobs

AO launches new mentorship scheme

Online electricals retailer AO has launched a new programme designed to equip young people with skills and experience to gain digital jobs.

FastFutures was launched by 12 founding partners - including AO - with the aim to increase employability for 18 to 22-year-olds.

The programme will see 11 mentors across the company - the only North West employer to participate in the programme - offer support and advice to an assigned mentee.

The retailer will also offer mock interviews for 50 young people and, in the second phase of the programme, will offer a virtual ‘site visit’ for participants.

The retailer said the scheme “compliments” its recruitment campaign, as it has created 650 new roles to manage an increase in demand.

AO said it hopes to consider participants for live vacancies at the company.

Simon Ryan, director of operations at AO (Mobile) has signed up to be a Fast Futures mentor because he “believe[s] it is important to recognise how lucky we are to be in a position to support young people”.
