Amazon has revealed that it has invested more than 拢2.1bn across the South West since 2010.

Figures from the latest Amazon 海角视频 Economic Impact Hub show this investment has been felt in Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, with 拢2.3bn invested across the South West. This investment led to the production of goods and services that contributed an estimated 拢2.3bn to the region's GDP since 2010.

The report showed Amazon has created more than 5,000 full and part-time jobs in the region, with more than 470 people across the South West having completed the retailer's employability skills training programme since 2010 and more than 260 apprentices having taken part in the Amazon Apprenticeship programme.

In Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, there are more than 2,800 small and medium-sized businesses selling on Amazon as independent selling partners. Small businesses from the region selling on Amazon recorded over 拢80m of export sales in 2022.

Earlier this week Amazon workers announced their intention to demonstrate outside the retail giant's Swindon depot to show support for colleagues involved in a pay dispute.

The GMB trade union said more than 1,000 Amazon workers have staged a walk out at the firm鈥檚 warehouse in Coventry, starting on Tuesday (November 7) and lasting until Thursday (November 9), with plans for a further strike on Black Friday (November 24) - one of the busiest shopping days of the year. GMB said that some of the striking workers in Coventry would join the demo in Swindon to speak to colleagues there about mobilisation and how to plan strike action.
