More jobs are being created at e-commerce juggernaut Amazon鈥檚 new Plymouth 鈥渄elivery station鈥 as it gears up for Christmas 鈥 and that includes for people who want to earn a side hustle by delivering packages using their own cars.

The online retailer is looking for people to join its Amazon Flex project, where they can be paid 拢13 to 拢15 an hour to deliver a number of parcels using their own car and phone.

The earnings are worked out by being based on delivering a number of packages across an 鈥渆stimated鈥 length of time called a 鈥渂lock鈥.

The company said it aims to ensure the number of packages someone is given is 鈥渞ealistic鈥 taking into account congestion and 鈥渢he primary requirement to drive safely鈥.

But it adds: 鈥淗owever, the actual time taken per delivery may vary, because it could, occasionally, take less or more time than expected, so earnings per hour may vary鈥.

Amazon said the idea allows people to 鈥渆arn extra money and move closer to your goals鈥 and is ideal for people wanting to supplement their regular income or saving up for something.

It said: 鈥淲hatever your situation, Amazon Flex can offer you the freedom and flexibility to be your own boss and to earn extra money on your own schedule.鈥

The Seattle-headquartered heavyweight, which is looking to create 10,000 jobs across the 海角视频 in 2020, this summer.

It replaced a warehouse in the city鈥檚 Broadley Park Road which opened in the summer of 2019 as a temporary facility while Amazon secured a site to meet its longer-term needs.

The global online retailer has been recruiting people to staff the new centre and plans to increase its permanent headcount to from 40 to more than 50 by the end of 2020.

But it is also hiring more than 50 people to work in 鈥渟easonal roles鈥 as Christmas approaches in addition to recruiting for Amazon Flex.
