Retail giant Amazon is set to create more than 1,000 seasonal roles in Bristol as it prepares for the festive period.

The firm has announced it is hiring for the temporary roles at its sites in Avonmouth and Severn Beach, including at its fulfilment and sort centres, and delivery stations. It is also looking for flexible staff to distribute parcels through its Flex delivery service.

The move is part of a wider º£½ÇÊÓƵ recruitment drive as it seeks to take on 20,000 people to help in the run-up to Christmas.

Amazon said its operations role start at £10 per hour, rising to £11.10 per hour in some parts of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ for all full-time, part-time, temporary, or seasonal roles. The flexible roles at its Bristol delivery station will pay between £13 and £15 per hour.

Christopher Law, general manager at Amazon’s Bristol fulfilment centre, said: “ We prepare year-round for the festive season, and we’re excited to have more than 1,000 positions available this year in Bristol.

“Our seasonal associates play an integral role in helping us deliver an exceptional experience for our customers.

“We look forward to welcoming back seasonal workers who return year-after-year to Amazon and to welcome new faces to the team, many of whom will continue on to full-time roles with the company after the festive period.”

Figures released this month by Amazon reveal the firm has invested around £1.4bn in the West Country since 2010.
