£550k mews property in Hockley Heath

The style of the next door property has rubbed off on this unusual period cottage, reports Alison Jones

Enjoy a flavour of mansion living in a mews property that adjoins one.

It sits Umberslade Hall in Pound House Lane, Hockley Heath, a late 17th Century Grade II* listed mansion house.

Surrounding it are 15 acres of communal grounds with a lake and ample space to enjoy the surrounding countryside and wildlife.

The Archer family were granted the manor of Umberslade by Henry II in the 12th century and retained possession for some 600 years.

The old manor house was replaced between 1695 and 1700 when Smith of Warwick built the new mansion for Andrew Archer, MP for Warwickshire.

From 1850 it was leased by George Frederic Muntz, MP for Birmingham.

In 1857 his son bought the estate enlarged and improved the hall and had a – Umberslade Baptist Church – which still exists though it is now separate to the hall.

From the 1960s the Hall was leased out to commercial tenants.
