One of Scunthorpe鈥檚 largest employers, Nisa, has surpassed 拢11 million of fundraising through its registered charity.

The delivered wholesale specialist set up Making a Difference Locally in 2008, with funds distributed to communities in which the business and its partner store owners operate.

Averaging 拢1 million a year, the pace of the fundraising has been raised since the takeover by The Co-operative.

All Co-op own label sales now contribute a 0.6 per cent donation to the charity, in addition to the existing contributions made by Nisa鈥檚 Heritage range, collection tins and other initiatives deployed.

Nisa鈥檚 head of charity, Kate Carroll, said: 鈥淲e are delighted that our retailers and their customers have helped to raise more than 拢11m over the last 11 years for thousands of very deserving charities and good causes.

鈥淲e know that even relatively small donations can make a huge difference to local charities and communities, particularly in terms of social impact, and we look forward to providing even more support over the years to come.鈥

Nisa partners have supported local causes with almost 12,000 donations to date, with recipients ranging from youth sports teams and community groups to hospices and health and wellbeing charities.
