Work has finished on a £3.5 million development on a university’s city centre campus.

The Yard will increase capacity at De Montfort University’s Business and Law Faculty, in Leicester.

It is the latest piece in a huge redevelopment of DMU’s campus in recent years, which has helped reshape the city skyline.

The four-storey extension to the existing Hugh Aston building has been designed by CPMG Architects and constructed by principal contractor Clegg Construction, which are both based in Nottingham.

Students will be able to use the building 24 hours a day.

CPMG Architects associate Tom Rigley said: “We’re delighted to have worked with De Montfort University again on their latest development, having designed the Vijay Patel and the Hugh Aston buildings over the last few years.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase our expertise in educational buildings and create something special from a highly constrained site.

“We wanted to keep the design of the extension consistent with the Hugh Aston building as it nestles within its existing courtyard.
