William Davis Homes submits plans for “new neighbourhood” of up to 500 homes in rural Leicestershire

Leicestershire developer said it was also considering another site in the same village

William Davis Homes has submitted proposals to build a “new neighbourhood” of up to 500 homes in rural Leicestershire.

The Loughborough-based developer has drawn up plans for land at Anstey, much of which it said had been allocated for development in the Charnwood Local Plan, restricting the chance of councillors being able to reject the homes.

It said the proposals would help Charnwood Borough Council meet its housing needs and deliver a new neighbourhood for the village, which is a few miles to the north west of Leicester.

The plans also include public parkland, a community hub and land earmarked for a new primary school.

In recent years Anstey has been expanding rapidly to the north on Cropston Road with a large Bloor Homes development.

William Davis Homes said it was also considering another site in Anstey.

William Davis Homes development director David Dodge said the proposed development was one of several the company was planning in the Charnwood area over the next few months.

He said the borough needs to build nearly 18,000 homes before 2037.
