A public consultation has been launched into a £155m development which could see around 1,200 homes constructed and almost 1,300 jobs created on the Wirral.

The Bromborough Wharf scheme would be based on a brownfield industrial site off Dock Road South.

The plans have been drawn up by Bromborough Riverside Regeneration, Black Pearl Homes and property investment and development company, Grammont Group.

The plans also include purpose-built accommodation for older people, improved access to Port Sunlight Park and Eastham Park, electric vehicle charging points and a new bus route through the site.

Bjorn Martenson, director at Black Pearl Homes, said : "Bromborough Wharf will support the council’s ambition to have a brownfield first approach for new housebuilding in the Wirral and deliver a housing mix that caters for all ages and local needs.

"We’re looking to create a sustainable riverside community that will be a desirable place to live for generations to come, and we encourage local people to get involved in our consultation and tell us what they think about the plans."

Nick Uzel, managing director at Grammont Group, added: "This is not just about delivering new homes. Our vision for Bromborough Wharf will deliver real benefits for the local community, with a unique opportunity to support residents’ health and wellbeing by opening up a riverside space and providing a new promenade along the River Mersey.
