Leicester City's new £100m training ground will finally welcome first team on Christmas Eve

New facilities could attract more star players and help propel club to further domestic and European success

Leicester City's £100m training ground near Loughborough is an example of the county's vision

Leicester City are set to train for the first time at their new £100m state-of-the-art base on Christmas Eve.

The 2015-16 Premier League winners will move into the new facility at Seagrave, between Loughborough and Melton, after a two year construction schedule.

It is hoped the new facilities will help propel the club to further domestic and European success. The new base 31 playing surfaces including 14 full-size pitches, an indoor training centre and a 499-seater flood-lit show pitch.

It also has some of the best sports science and medical facilities available and customised gym and hydrotherapy facilities.

There is even a private nine-hole golf course.

The first team’s move will be followed in the coming weeks by the club’s entire men’s professional and academy football operation. The club has announced that its Belvoir Drive training ground on the edge of the city centre – which it has used for 60 years – will become home to LCFC Women.

The women’s team, which was acquired by LCFC last August, turned professional in the summer and currently leads the FA Women’s Championship.

They will move into Belvoir Drive before the turn of the year.
