A student flats developer is drawing up proposals for a 40-storey skyscraper in Nottingham.

Leicester-based Code Students is considering making a planning application to erect what would become the tallest building in the city.

Code already has schemes in Leicester and Coventry and is an established developer.

It owns one major student scheme in Western Park, Leicester, and has a new £51 million PRS apartment scheme, called Merlin Works, overlooking the River Soar in Bath Lane, Leicester.

Its expansion outside its home city saw it launch its second site in Coventry in 2019, adding 1,200 beds to its current portfolio.

According to NottinghamshireLive, Code Students has revealed its plans as part of a screening opinion request to seek opinions of Nottingham City Council’s planners.

The designs have been drawn up by Staniforth Architects, a Midlands-based architect which is currently involved in the Lace Market Point development on the BBC Island.

Planning research group UrbInfo Nottingham said the plans for the former Base 51 site off Huntingdon Street and Glasshouse Street would make the skyscraper the city’s tallest building.
