Derby and Derbyshire to showcase £2bn of projects at MIPIM 2022

Schemes include the £200m Becketwell regeneration area, Smartparc food complex and riverside regeneration

How the 3,500 capacity venue in Derby’s Becketwell regeneration scheme could look

The £200 million Becketwell regeneration area, Smartparc food manufacturing complex and riverside regeneration will be among £2 billion of Derbyshire projects showcased at next week’s MIPIM property conference.

A delegation from the city and county will promote the region at the global property and construction event which takes place in Cannes, in the south of France, next week.

Other schemes being used to show the opportunities on offer will include a planned £60 million electric bus system and park and ride hubs, the regeneration of Derby’s market hall and Market Place as well as the replacement from the city’s Assembly Rooms.

They and others will be included in two prospectuses – one for the city, the other for the county – which will be unveiled to international investors at the event

A combination of public and private sector officials will join members of Marketing Derby’s inward investment team at MIPIM which runs from March 15 to 18.

Linked to a º£½ÇÊÓƵ Pavilion, the team will share details of 16 key investment opportunities in a recently updated Derby Investment Prospectus, worth £1.2 billion.

One of the key project being promoted in the document is the University of Derby’s City Hub Masterplan, focusing on the area around One Friar Gate Square, Ford Street, Bridge Street, Agard Street and Nuns Street.

The first phase will include a new business school, and the overall aim will be to create two distinct but linked areas in the city – an academic zone, centred around the university’s current Sir Peter Hilton Court site, and an enterprise zone, based around the Princess Alice Court halls of residence and Enterprise Centre area.
