£250 million regeneration scheme gets £3m for new road

Lindhurst Development, in Mansfield, will have 1,700 homes, 2m sq ft of jobs space and 333k sq ft of commercial space

The Lindhurst Development, in Mansfield

A £250 million housing, employment and retail scheme has got a £3 million grant from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership.

The Lindhurst Development, in Mansfield, will eventually include 1,700 new homes – almost a third of them affordable – more than 2 million sq ft of employment floor space, and 333,000 sq ft of commercial space.

It is going up in four planned phases on land part-owned by the Derbyshire County Council, and phase one of the project, with 530 homes, is already well underway.

The D2N2 funding will go towards phase two, supporting the construction of a spine road to serve the wider development and the surrounding area.

The road will unlock space for 475 homes plus a local centre including shops, a health centre, care homes, and a new primary school and nursery.

There will also be new bus links and walking and cycling routes, which will support as many as 4,000 new jobs.

Work on phase two is due to begin in January 2021 and be completed by March 2022

The project is one of 10 across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire which has received funding from D2N2’s £44 million share of the government’s £900 million Getting Building Fund.
