Prof. Lisa Roberts has taken over as the new Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive at the University of Exeter.

She replaces Prof. Sir Steve Smith who has retired after 18 years in post, one of the longest-serving and most successful Vice-Chancellors of his generation.

He will now go on to represent the º£½ÇÊÓƵ as International Education Champion.

During his leadership the University secured Russell Group status and is now consistently ranked as one of the top 15 universities in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and the top 150 in the world.

In an extraordinary year for the higher education sector which has been beset by Covid 19, the university has secured a high number of º£½ÇÊÓƵ and international students for 2020/21.

Over the last few months Prof. Roberts has been working with Sir Steve to ensure continuing growth for the university.

She said: “I am looking forward to working with an exceptionally talented community of staff and students to realise even greater success for the university and for each individual within it.
