Global defence systems developer Ultra Electronics has expanded its footprint in the US with the $8.6m (£5 million) acquisition of ICE Corporation.
The company, which has operations in Birmingham and Rugeley, has bought the Kansas-based provider of aerospace electrical power management systems.
ICE was previously owned by private investors, including the company's founder, and all of the management team will be staying with the business.

Listed Ultra Electronics, which last year blamed anticipated to £367.7 million, is a defence, security, transport and energy company with existing US bases in Michigan, New York, Texas and Virginia among others.
ICE designs, develops, manufactures and supports aerospace products including motor control electronics, electrothermal ice protection controllers and pneumatic valve controls.
Its customers include Parker Hannifin Corporation, Cessna Aircraft Company and Meggitt.
Ultra said the acquisition would be financed through existing facilities and be fully earnings accretive in 2015.
Additional payments of up to $3m (£1.76 million) will be made subject to certification of a new electric taxi system for which ICE provides essential parts.
