Law firm Sydney Mitchell has presented two charities with cheques totalling £5,500 as a result of its corporate fundraising efforts in 2014.

Sydney Mitchell handed over cheques for £2,750 to Diane Watt of the Maria Watt Foundation and Eileen Rock of the Birmingham Women’s Hospital Charity.

The funds were raised by the firm over the last 12 months from its annual quiz, charity golf day and various other fundraising activities.

Sydney Mitchell partner Karen Moores said: “We are pleased to be able to support the charities with both the Beads of Courage programme and the purchase of life-saving neonatal equipment at the Birmingham Women’s Hospital.

“It is important that where businesses can help give something back, they do.”

“We are thankful as always to our clients, professional contacts and our staff for their regular support of our fundraising activities throughout the year.”

Diane Watt, founder of the Maria Watt Foundation Charity, said: “Our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Sydney Mitchell whose amazing support for The Maria Watt Foundation over the past number of years and again this year has made a significant difference to the lives of children and teenagers going through cancer treatment.

“The funds raised continue to support the psycho-social therapy programme Beads of Courage here in Birmingham.
