Two law firms have set out their plans for dealing with the coronavirus and its impact on business during the partial lockdown.

Shakespeare Martineau and Nelsons, which have offices around the region, said they were introducing flexible working to ensure they met the latest Government guidelines and helped keep their staff safe.

It comes as latest advice suggests many segments of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ population – those most at risk – could be restricted to their homes for 12 weeks.

Roy Botterill, partner and head of the Shakespeare Martineau Leicester office, said: “Our flexible ways of working mean that our people are fully accessible as usual and have everything they need to work remotely, should they need to.

“The on-going developments have reaffirmed our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our people, our clients and our office visitors and we continue to take suitable precautions recommended by government and Public Health England; such as self-isolation, reducing travel and providing alternatives to face-to-face meetings.

“Learning events are now being hosted as online webinars and we have created a dedicated coronavirus resource hub on our website to support clients and other businesses.

“We continue to follow government and Public Health England guidance closely and are providing our people and clients with regular updates and advice as the situation progresses.”

Nelsons, which has offices in Leicester, Nottingham and Derby, and a turnover of more than £17 million, said staff had been asked to work from home where possible but it was keeping its doors open – until told otherwise by the authorities.
