Fitzgerald has developed particular expertise advising troubled professional practices, in particular law firms, dealing with solvent mergers, conversion to limited liability partnerships and general partnership advisory work.
She said: "I enjoyed great success at (previous employer) Matthew Arnold & Baldwin but I'm ready for a new challenge.
"It was a simple choice to join a leading team in the field, once the management team at SGH Martineau had detailed their ambitious growth plans and the need for a strong restructuring and insolvency team to support the key sectors in which the firm has a strong reputation."
Partner and head of restructuring and insolvency Daniel Sejas said: "We are delighted that Christina will be joining our team, and as a recognised leader in the field she will enhance our core offering in restructuring and insolvency."
