Salford law firm Carter Moore goes into administration

The firm represented nurse Victorino Chua who was found guilty of murdering and poisoning patients at Stepping Hill Hospital and jailed for life in 2015

A law firm, which has defended high profile clients including ‘Stepping Hill murderer’ Victorino Chua, has gone into administration.

Dean Watson and Jason Greenhalgh of Begbies Traynor were appointed ioint administrators of Carter Moore Solicitors late last month after the law firm ceased trading and all 11 members of staff were made redundant.

The Salford headquartered firm was founded in 2003 by Jeremy Moore and Mark Carter.

It specialised in criminal defence, serious fraud and personal injury work.

The firm represented nurse Victorino Chua who was found guilty of murdering and poisoning patients at Stepping Hill Hospital and jailed for life in 2015.

It also defended Barry George in a high profile case that resulted in his acquittal in 2010 of the murder of BBC TV personality Jill Dando outside her London home in 1999.

Mr Watson said: “Law firms operating in the regional legal market, particularly those in personal injury or criminal practice, continue to face business challenges.

“Carter Moore, despite employing talented staff and winning several high profile cases for clients are no different from many other firms who are teetering on the brink of survival.
