Reconomy buys Casepak to create an £800m turnover national recycling group

It is the Reconomy Group’s fourth acquisition of 2021 and follows its purchase of the £50 million turnover Eurokey Recycling

Casepak has been bought by Reconomy Group

A Shropshire waste management business has bought its second big Leicester recycling business in less than a year.

Telford-based Reconomy Group has bought Casepak, which is based in the village of Enderby, a few miles south of Leicester and close to junction 21 of the M1.

It is the Reconomy Group’s fourth acquisition of 2021 and follows its purchase of the £50 million turnover Eurokey Recycling – also based in Leicester – back in the spring.

It means the Reconomy group now has a combined turnover of more than £800 million.

Casepak’s collections and processing facility in Enderby processes 150,000 tonnes of recycled material every year.

It also has a big materials recycling facility on the Braunstone Frith Industrial Estate, a few miles away, with capacity to process up to 165,000 tonnes of material each year – and with a recovery rate of 95 per cent.

The deal also includes its sister company Oceala, a full-service waste management company which specialises in offering services to retailers.

Casepak joint managing director Mark Smith said: “We are extremely proud to have grown Casepak into such a successful company while remaining family-owned and operated.
