Big Four accountancy giant PwC has appointed Ian Green as the firm’s new leader for the North in a shakeup of its regional leadership.

Mr Green, who has been with the firm for over 30 years, takes up his new post following a strategic review which has led to the North East, North West and Yorkshire practices now coming under one leader.

He will take over from Iwan Griffiths, who was North West regional chairman, and Ian Morrison who was Yorkshire and North East regional leader.

Mr Griffiths is moving to a new national financial services role with a focus on the regions while Mr Morrison will continue to sit within the firms audit business as an audit partner.

Mr Green started his career at PwC’s Newcastle office, working in the audit department, before moving to Leeds to join the Business Recovery Service (BRS) practice.

After leading the practice in the North, he moved to London as the Business Unit leader of BRS in 2014, at the same time joining the Deals Leadership Team.

Mr Green, who was born and brought up in Leeds and continues to live in Yorkshire, said he wanted to provide opportunities and fulfilling careers for the firm’s staff.

He said: “I’m delighted to be returning home to the region. I want to continue to build on the work that has been done over the last few years to help the businesses in the region grow using the strength and depth of talent we have across the North.
