Planning firm opens Bristol base in former Fry's chocolate factory

Nexus Planning said its newly formed Bristol team was already creating new opportunities in the "thriving" South West region

A planning consultancy has expanded into the South West with the opening of a new Bristol office.

Nexus Planning, which advises public and private sector firms on housing, regeneration and retail developments, has moved into its fifth regional base at The Programme Building on All Saints Street - a former Fry’s chocolate factory.

Nexus said its newly formed team in Bristol was already developing “significant new opportunities” across a number of sectors, including in its specialisms of residential planning, strategic land, retail and town centre strategies.

It said it had secured two "prominent" city centre and citywide retail studies, the first of which was already completed, while the second was nearing its final stages.

Land expert Tony Clements has been appointed to lead the Bristol office, which consists of three associates and a senior planner, with further recruitment planned this year.

Managing director Roger Tustain said: “As a business we’ve been increasingly active in the thriving South West region. It’s made perfect sense to set up a base to offer existing and new clients a local service which also has the ability to support our national planning expertise.

“We see Bristol and the South West as a major growing investment market and we’re very encouraged by the response so far. Tony is a perfect fit for our business style and culture, we’re immensely pleased to have him on board.”

Mr Clements added: “The ambitious growth plans that the business has and the obvious synergies between Nexus’ existing client base and the clients I have been advising in the region since the early 2000s was in my mind a perfect marriage.”
