Pan-Humber law firm Pepperells has branched out into the North East.

Millican Law in Newcastle has been incorporated in what has been described as a”strategic move to continue its plans for growth”.

It follows the opening of offices in Beverley and Lincoln in 2020 as the footprint has widened.

More than 30 staff have also been recruited, and a campaign to add more is ongoing, with the headcount now at 120.

Chief executive Ben Pepperell said: “This is an exciting development for the firm as we add additional legal expertise to our ranks whilst expanding our geographic footprint.

“The firm already has a commercial team but with a growing client base and demands of this area of expertise, it makes perfect sense to add additional resource to super serve our current and new clients.”

First major geographic expansion came after 20 years serving the home town, with the Hull acquisition of Ivesons Solicitors in 2009, and then Myer Wolff in 2014.

Offices in Grimsby were taken in late 2016, and now Millican Law joins the fold.
