Newcastle law firm for business Muckle LLP has welcomed four new trainee solicitors and an apprentice solicitor to its growing team.
Ben Forbes has taken up his first seat in banking and finance, Katie Allen begins her traineeship in the corporate team, while Lydia Stewart has joined the real estate team and Tania Brodie-Clarke has started in the dispute resolution team.
A new apprentice solicitor, Jake Thompson, has also joined the real estate team at Muckle, which means the firm now has a total of five apprentice solicitors.
The announcement follows a number of successes for the Newcastle firm, which recently reported double-digit growth with profit and turnover up on the previous financial year. Muckle has also renewed its Investors in People (IIP) Gold accreditation, after 92% of its employees agreed it was a great place to work.

Fire system manufacturer Advanced has appointed its first head of digital as it looks to realise the full potential of connectivity.
The firm designs, manufactures and supplies fire alarm control panels to over 80 countries across the globe from its headquarters in Newcastle.

Christina Brugger joins as head of digital from the manufacturer’s FTSE 100 parent company, Halma PLC, where she helped various teams with developing digital business models, customer validation, pitching and execution.
In her new role, Christina will oversee the development of several cloud-based projects to accelerate Advanced’s digital growth strategy.

Business advisory firm KPMG has appointed two new directors as part of the latest round of senior promotions in the firm’s North East practice.
Chris Vaulks and Richard Cotterill have been made directors within KPMG’s Newcastle office at Quayside House, with a further 17 promotions announced throughout the business.
Mr Vaulks has been a member of KPMG’s audit team for more than 10 years, having joined the firm as a graduate trainee in 2007. In 2017 he was named Accountant of the Year at the North East Accountancy Awards, and currently leads the wellbeing team in the Newcastle office. As a director he will be working on a mixed portfolio of clients including listed and privately owned businesses, across a variety of sectors including retail, manufacturing and construction.
Richard Cotterill joined KPMG’s Birmingham office as a school-leaver before moving to London as part of the firm’s M&A team. He recently relocated to the North East, where he leads the firm’s energy lead advisory team, focusing on M&A, debt advisory and strategic consultancy for clients delivering low carbon infrastructure projects.

Neil Slade will manage the popular boutique hotel, bar, kitchen and terrace along with the collection of holiday cottages.
After many years working in the South West of England he has decided to pursue a new challenge in the North of England, the region where he was raised.
Mr Slade’s career in the industry has seen him at the helm of some of Cornwall’s premier hotels; including, The Greenbank, The Penmorvah Manor and the five-star Headland Hotel and Spa. Most recently, Neil enjoyed a stint at the Signature Bannatyne Hotel in County Durham.
