Tech consultancy Saggezza 海角视频 has announced the appointment of former EY and Cisco director Peter Hughes as programme director.
Mr Hughes, who has more than 20 years’ experience working in senior tech roles across the globe, joined the company following its acquisition by Silicon Valley tech giant Infostretch earlier this year.
Mr Hughes was born and raised in the North East before going on to travel the world during the course of his career. He will join the company in a hybrid capacity, splitting his time between his home office and the company’s Sunderland HQ.
He said: “Having worked across a number of different sectors, most recently at Scott Logic in Newcastle but in the past at EY, Cisco and BP across various countries, I relished the challenge of not only applying technology to business problems, but also being disruptive with technology and applying it to new business opportunities.”
Housebuilder Robertson Homes has appointed Wes English as its land director in the North East.
Mr English has joined the Gateshead-based developer from Avant Homes, citing the appeal of Robertson’s properties as a major factor in the move.
He has spent the past 10 years working in land acquisition for housebuilders and is looking forward to the opportunities ahead for Robertson.
He said: “Very few developers offer a range of larger properties designed and built to the quality of a Robertson home and this fits perfectly with my desire to work with landowners to help them create genuine legacy developments that local communities and homeowners will be proud of.”

Darlington Building Society has created nine new roles across the region.
The branch-based customer service assistant roles have largely been offered to those in further education. Seven of the roles have already been filled, with two vacancies remaining at the Barnard Castle and Northallerton branches.

The Welding Development Centre (WDC) has expanded its team in response to a rising demand for its consultancy, training, and certification support services.
South Shields based WDC, which delivers welding solutions across industries including oil and gas, nuclear, aerospace, marine and automotive, has created four new roles of business development manager, non-destructive testing (NDT) manager, welding engineer and welding technologist.
Brian Cowell joins as NDT manager after spending four years as welding and coatings manager with United Utilities. Aberdeen-based Alexander Flett has been appointed business development manager, tasked with growing the business overall, as well as strengthening its position in the Scottish market. Stephen Car joins as a welding engineer, while Sean Peatfield, who will continue to be based in Aberdeen, has been appointed as welding technologist.

Tech firm razorblue has welcomed back Chris Gill as its managing director of business applications.
Mr Gill, who will be based at the company’s Wynyard office, was a founding director of the business and has since held senior roles working within the business applications space, as well as supply chain management and warehousing.
The company said his return marks an exciting focus on growth of the division.
He said: “It’s a great joy for me to be returning to razorblue, and to be given the opportunity to develop the Business Applications division. It feels very much like coming home, and the familiarity of ethos and company values will mean I can hit the ground running.”

EY has appointed two new senior hires in its corporate finance team for the North of England.
Richard Pulford joins from DC Advisory, where he spent 13 years growing and leading the firm’s North West team. He has nearly 25 years M&A experience, advising on over 100 completed transactions, worth over £7bn.
Rebecca Rennison joins EY with over 20 years of M&A experience working across large private equity and international strategic trade transactions. She previously led the PwC Yorkshire corporate finance team and prior to that was a managing director at Raymond James in Canada, where she worked for 15 years.
They will work together with Mark Clephan to lead the team. Mr Clephan said: “I am delighted to welcome Richard and Rebecca into the team. They both bring a wealth of experience in M&A space and together we can build on, and accelerate, the successes of the past few years. Our continued significant investment in senior talent reflects not only EY’s ambition in the North but also our confidence in the long-term outlook for the regional economy.”
