Broadoak Asset Management has expanded with the appointment of property professional Jonathan Sykes.
Mr Sykes, a chartered surveyor with 32 years’ experience in the property industry, becomes the fifth director at the Newcastle firm.
As a former equity partner of King Sturge he opened their Newcastle office in 2001 and went on to become a regional director of international property giants JLL. He then set up Sykes Property Consultants in 2013 before most recently enjoying a spell as a director at Lambert Smith Hampton.
He said: “Having worked closely with Broadoak in the past I have admired their hands on, results driven approach and am looking forward to this fantastic opportunity to promote regeneration and development across the North East.”
Business advisory firm Ryecroft Glenton (RG) has appointed tax director Liz Rothery to further expand its Newcastle team.
A member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ms Rothery brings more 15 years’ experience in both private client tax and business tax covering sectors including agriculture, SME businesses and high net worth individuals. She delivers tax advice on a range of specialisms including business succession, estate planning and family trusts.

Northumberland based Sands Group 海角视频 has taken on its first apprentice, Jack Cooper from Monkseaton, with help from Gateshead College.
Mr Cooper, 20, will complete his training as a plumbing and heating apprentice at Gateshead College, whilst gaining practical, on-the-job experience working alongside the skilled and knowledgeable team at Sands Group 海角视频.
The firm, headquartered in Rothbury, comprises architectural and design services, construction, renewable energy, plumbing, heating and electrical services, and over the next year plans to take on four apprentices.

North Tyneside’s Seaweed & Co has announced two hires to support the ongoing growth and expansion of the business.
Liam Sherriff has joined as commercial manager and comes with eight years’ experience in nutrition and nutraceuticals, having founded his own nutritional supplement business seven years ago before leaving last year. The Whitley Bay company has also hired Alexander Maclean as production manager in Scotland.
After agreeing a major distribution contract and developing listings with the likes of Holland & Barrett, Boots and QVC amongst others, founder Craig Rose said he needed to bolster internal resources and increase headcount.

Property and energy firm The Banks Group has recruited two new members to its team in Yorkshire.
The Durham family-owned firm has recruited development surveyor David Lynskey and development planner Joe Perkins as part of its strategic ambition to increase its presence across the county.
Mr Lynskey has more than 10 years’ experience of working in property and renewable energy development roles in both the South East and his native Yorkshire.
Mr Perkins, meanwhile, has joined Banks from the planning department at Doncaster Council, where he was senior planning officer, and previously worked as a planning officer in both the development management and spatial policy teams at Wakefield Council.

Pentland Brands has announced the appointment of Kev McFadyen as the global brand director for its Speedo brand.
Mr McFadyen joined the Pentland Brands business as the brand director for Berghaus in 2018. Since then he has successfully led Berghaus to deliver growth across both financial and brand metrics, including the rapid transformation of the brand strategy that has led to the development of new product ranges and expansion into new markets.
McFadyen has over 20 years’ experience working with some of the world's most highly regarded brands, including Red Bull, Heineken, O2 and Nando's. In his new role, McFadyen will be responsible for leading the iconic Speedo brand, including global product and marketing.
