Ward Hadaway’s social housing team has made four new additions to its Newcastle office.

The social housing team, part of the broader Built Environment group at the firm, has appointed Robert Emson as a managing associate having spent 20 years working with a national housing association. Tyla Malloy has been appointed as a lawyer in the development team and Naoise Webster, who works within the social housing litigation team, has recently graduated as a solicitor after completing training seats in employment, immigration, healthcare and commercial litigation.

Meanwhile, Jo Loake, who has more than two decades of expertise in charity governance and regulation, joins Ward Hadaway’s Newcastle office. Social housing sector head, Julia Thomson, said: “It’s great to see the growth of our social housing team in the North East which will support and enhance our service offer to clients across the region and nationally. We continue to attract high-calibre solicitors such as Robert and Jo but it’s equally pleasing to see newly-qualified solicitors such as Tyla and Naoise coming through the firm.”

Asbestos Audit Ltd has appointed Kieran Hunt as laboratory manager of its new asbestos laboratory at its Peterlee headquarters. He is joined by another new recruit, Keren Hague, who takes up an asbestos analyst role.

Asbestos Audit operates from 13 offices across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, providing º£½ÇÊÓƵAS accredited asbestos surveys, inspections, removal and testing and also has a rapidly growing demolition department that includes soft strip out and salvage. Mr Hunt said: “Demand for asbestos testing continues to grow rapidly amongst Asbestos Audit’s growing, national customer base. The laboratory will give us the capacity to identify asbestos containing materials urgently and provide the analysis results the same day. This will significantly reduce the waiting times associated with independent laboratories, enable us to provide a more efficient service and add an additional layer of quality control to the business.”

David Bolton, new COO at Visuna(Image: Visuna)

Energy and tech recruitment specialist Visuna has promoted David Bolton as its new chief operating officer to recognise his contribution to the firm’s growth. Washington-based Visuna has promoted Mr Bolton to the role, despite him having only joined last year.

He said added: “I’m delighted with the role in what is an unbelievably exciting period for Visuna. We are constantly growing as a business, and there’s a real buzz within the company that we can become the world leader in our field. Since diversifying into renewables, our talent pool has rapidly expanded, and we are also growing the US arm of the business. It is an honour to take on this exciting role and I can’t wait to help Visuna continue its incredible growth.”

Originally called Oil Consultants LTD, the firm rebranded last year and plans to double its Wearside workforce within the next few years.
