Two long-serving members of RMT Accountants & Business Advisors ’ specialist tax team have earned promotions.
Head of corporate tax Rachel Warriner and head of personal tax Chris Moir are now associate directors of the Gosforth-based firm, taking on additional responsibilities alongside their everyday roles. Mr Warriner, who joined RMT in 2014, has particular expertise in research and development tax claims, capital allowances claims, employee share option schemes and company reorganisations.
Mr Moir has been with RMT since 2004, joining straight from university, and his work covers tax planning, compliance and succession planning issues. Anthony Andreasen, director at RMT Accountants, said: “Rachel and Chris have both been key members of our tax team for many years, and their contribution towards the firm’s continuing success and development very much merit their promotions.”

Onyx Health has announced the appointment of Trevor Pill as its new managing director.
He will take over the day-to-day running of the agency from owner and founder Karen Winterhalter, who originally set up the agency in 2003. Ms Winterhalter will remain a director, concentrating on business development in her new role.
Mr Pill’s key priority in his new role will be driving forward the agency’s international growth plans and establishing a commercial presence in the US. Onyx Health already has several major national and international clients in the pharmaceutical industry, including Bayer, Clinigen, Nova Laboratories and Foot Science International.

RG Corporate Finance (RGCF) has announced the promotion of Connor McBride to corporate finance senior manager.

Mr McBride, joined RGCF in 2019 as a corporate finance manager from global advisory firm PwC. Since joining the firm he has advised on a significant number of transactions including HW Global’s acquisition of cloud and digital recruitment specialist Osmii, the sale of SAS to Lifco, the sale of Fostr to IDHL and the management buy-out of Nigel Wright Group.
He said: “Everyone at RGCF has been hugely supportive in helping me to develop my career, following three years of advising on a portfolio of complex and varied M&A transactions.”

Accountancy and business advisory firm Johnston Carmichael has strengthened its VAT team with the appointment of Alex Nicholson.
Partner and head of VAT and indirect tax, Alex Nicholson joins the Newcastle office from a large independent firm on Tyneside where he led the VAT team, following 10 years at two of the Big Four advisory firms. He said: “I joined Johnston Carmichael because of the culture of the firm and its people. I was blown away by the calibre of the tax team and other members of the firm’s leadership who I met prior to joining.

Newcastle-based Melius Cyber has appointed experienced technology leader Matt Little as chair, to support its future growth.

The appointment follows its recent £350,000 investment from the North East Venture Fund (NEVF), supported by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Mercia. Mr Little – who was introduced to the business by Mercia – has held senior roles in a range of tech companies spanning gaming, cybersecurity, financial services, government and media, and been involved in a number of business sales and acquisitions.

Major Northumberland manufacturing employer Essity Prudhoe Mill has strengthened its senior management team with two new appointments.
Kevin Gilroy joins the toilet tissue and paper-towel maker in the newly-created role of RESH manager, where he will oversee all risk, environment, safety and health compliance programmes. He was formerly group health and safety manager at Emtelle – one of Europe’s largest cabling and ducting manufacturers – and was health, safety and environment manager at Avery Dennison in Cramlington for 10 years before that.
At the same time, Lee Feetham has been appointed as site engineer with responsibility for all areas of engineering and maintenance. He joins from Greggs plc where he was engineering manager, with responsibility for the installation and commissioning of all plant services including fire protection systems and the creation of new work and safety procedures.
Prudhoe Mill manager Tony Richards said: “Lee and Kevin have joined the business at a critical time as we expand and develop the Prudhoe site with a series of multi-million pound investments. We are in the process of building a world-wide RESH framework that will help create a safe and healthy working environment at all of our mills, offices, warehouses or any other facility.”
