People on the move: Key North East appointments and promotions of the week

Deloitte has appointed a new partner, an associate partner and four new directors in its Newcastle office.

The accountancy firm has also appointed a new director to its tax and legal team. Across the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, Deloitte has promoted 124 people to partner – a 57% increase on last year. In the Newcastle office a total of 79 people have been promoted.

Based at the recently opened Newcastle office the new partner is Mick Jeffrey, the associate partner is Paul Hewitson and the new directors are Jo Robertson and Andrew Horn in tax and legal, Heather Younger in financial advisory and Suzanne Green in audit and assurance. The new externally hired director Is Mark Lockey.

Mr Jeffrey, part of the audit and assurance team, has extensive experience of working within all key industry sectors and in particular the chemicals and pharmaceuticals sectors.

Stephen Hall, senior partner at Deloitte in Newcastle, said: “I am very pleased to be able to announce these six senior promotions which is testament to the growth of the firm in the North East. These promotions demonstrate the depth of expertise which our people are putting to play with our clients to make an impact that matters. I’m also very proud that 79 people in the Newcastle have been promoted this time."

Holly Jackson is the latest recruit to join the interior design team at Dakota House of Design in Newcastle.

About to graduate with a BA (Hons) in Interior Design, her new role as a junior designer sees Ms Jackson creating mood boards, liaising with clients and assisting other members of the design team day-to -day.

She said: “When Dakota approached the university wanting to hire one of its graduates, I applied instantly as I had always had my eye on the company from when I first moved to Newcastle. Additionally, I had always wanted to live in Newcastle, so it was a simple decision.
