People on the Move: Key North East appointments and promotions of the week

Sanderson Weatherall, Opencast Software, Northern Gas and Power, Hay & Kilner, razorblue and Newcastle Building Society have all announced new arrivals

Chartered surveyors and property consultants Sanderson Weatherall has announced key appointments and promotions.

Mark Convery has been promoted to associate partner, 10 years after joining as a junior surveyor, while Sara Lightfoot joins the North East valuation team as a surveyor, having previously gained experience at an international property consultancy.

Also joining the Newcastle office is trainee surveyor, Joseph Smith, who will work within their specialist rating and regeneration team for the next 12 months.

Northern Gas and Power, part of Global Procurement Group, has appointed Latif Faiyaz as head of flexible purchasing and energy strategy.

The post is a newly-created position which aims to expand and evolve the firm’s energy strategy as the company continues to grow.

Mr Faiyaz has over 10 years’ experience in energy trading and services, including the development of carbon projects, international carbon trade and integrating energy services into supply contracts. He has previously worked at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation, LG Energy Group and Engie.

He said: “I joined NGP due to its ambition and relentless drive to be the largest energy consultancy not just in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, but globally. Coupled with my 10 years of experience in energy trading and services, I’m delighted to be able to create a flexible, market leading offering to our customers, giving them real competitive advantage and enabling them to sustainably grow.”
