An award-winning East Yorkshire recruitment agency is to host a series of free webinars this month to help people who have lost their jobs due to Covid-19.

Emmerson Kitney is acting after the º£½ÇÊÓƵ unemployment rate hit the highest level for two years, with 700,000 more people out of work than were at the outbreak of the pandemic.

More are anticipated as support schemes draw to an end.

David Kitney, managing director, said that while his business is already fielding an increasing number of calls from those made redundant, many companies are also looking for the right people at the right time’.

“We are likely to find a situation where many people are out of work for the first time in many years, people who are not likely to have been through the process of applying for a new job and perhaps are not comfortable with selling themselves on paper through their CVs, or in person at an interview,” he said.

“It is important to help people to know how to stand out and give themselves the best chance. We want to help people back into work.”

Webinars will focus on producing a CV, applying and interviewing for jobs, and will feature several leading employers, including Ideal Heating, KCom and Giacom. They will tell those taking part exactly what they look for in candidates.

The wait for a job interview. The webinars are guaranteeing anonimity.

“For some companies this is a great time to pick up good candidates who are in the job-seeking market,” he said. “That makes it vital for people to know how best to sell themselves, from writing a CV to impressing in an interview, as it will be a very competitive market.”
