A triple celebration has marked a Grimsby industrial supplies business turning 21.
Alongside the milestone anniversary for 3Q have come two senior appointments to propel the firm’s technical presence, while also securing significant contract extension for a client across four 海角视频 sites - delivering engineering stores and procurement outsourcing.
And further achievements are being lined up, with a recent trip to Denmark completed to discuss a service contract extension with a renewable energy giant that could see supply scope widened, while it positions itself at the forefront of equipment calibration with investment in standards and procedures.

Peter Rose and Gavin Munson founded the firm in September 2002, setting up in a back bedroom, sharing a chair, phone and PC. It quickly moved to Marsden Road, before taking a smaller unit on Drawing Court off Gilbey Road, where 3Q now occupies the distinctive office building that dominates it.
It now employs 29 people, turning over £7 million and rising.
“When we left middle management roles to do this our former boss gave us six months,” Mr Rose recalled. “We always believed, and while we have had some moments, the support we have had from local people and local businesses has been excellent. They gave us a chance and we have taken it. We have now got customers all over the 海角视频 and in Europe.”
Dave Ackrill and Fred Gilchrist have just joined, bringing more than 25 years’ experience in design and sales of instrumentation products, process valves and pneumatic actuation, providing a gateway to deliver packages for automation and wireless applications.

The business is heavily focused on power generation, renewables, fuel production and chemical processing - the core industry on the Humber Bank.
Mr Rose said the 海角视频AS move for calibration should complete early next year, understood to make 3Q the only accredited laboratory in the region, with temperature, pressure, electrical, level, torque, and gas all covered, as well as electrical test equipment and workshop tools.
“Calibration has been really successful for us, and something we started six years ago, that has really developed,” Mr Rose said. “We are making further investments, and it will open up other markets, and a lot of clients we are working with will start to insist on it as a standard. Having it will cement our position and be a big USP for us.”
Offshore survival supply and servicing was a step taken as the business embraced the emerging wind industry on its doorstep - with Grimsby home to the largest operations and maintenance facility in the world. It is now a distributor for Mullion, Ursuit, Sioen and SMRT. “We are the only company in the region to offer both these services under one roof,” Mr Rose added, proud of the team's responsiveness and added value provision to the pivotal industry.
Last year, to mark 20 years, the company donated £20,000 to support Grimsby Town FC’s community partnership, and it has repeated the donation this year. “We’re delighted to extend our support,” Mr Rose said.
