A Nottinghamshire engineering consultancy is set to grow after receiving a six-figure investment boost.

Engineering Consultancy Services has received the financial backing from Enterprise Loans East Midlands through the Midlands Engine Investment Fund.

The firm provides a range of engineering and infrastructure solutions, including civil and structural design, inspection and assessment, as well as condition repair work.

The funding injection will allow the business to scale up, with five specialist team members hired so far. The investment will also enable staff to gain further training and accreditations.

The business was founded at the end of last year by Dr David Gent.

He has more than 20 years’ experience in the engineering industry, working on projects such as Crossrail, HS2, Great Western Railway and the Midland Mainline. Gent’s main specialism is in historic bridges.

He said: “I decided to set up Engineering Consultancy Services following a ‘lightbulb’ moment during a trip to Jordan in the Middle East.

“Jordan has no rail network so once I was back in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, I put together a proposal linking the Jordan Economic Growth plan with the economic benefits of a railway.
