The planning group at Birmingham’s No5 Chambers has entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Town and Country Planning Association.
The aim of the tie-up is to support the Town and Country Planning Association’s (TCPA) Garden City principles.
Jeremy Cahill QC, head of No5’s planning group, said: “I believe it’s fair to say that all the barristers – silks and juniors – within this No5 group, made the conscious decision to specialise in planning law because we wanted to play a positive role in arriving at the very best homes and environments where people and their families could live and flourish.

“We were therefore very pleased to have the opportunity to engage in sponsorship of the TCPA’s Garden Cities’ initiatives.”
The Garden City Initiative aims to facilitate “planned settlements which enhance the natural environment providing a foundation for high quality inclusive places to live for sustainable lifestyles” by working with developers, designers, local authorities and community groups.
The sponsorship package supports the Town and Country Planning Association’s Conference ‘Garden City Principles – from theory to practice’ taking place in London on May 15.
The event will see Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg providing the political keynote and Jeremy Cahill QC speaking during the day.
No5 is also supporting the TCPA publication ‘Garden Cities Today: A Practical Guide to Standards’ to be launched in Parliament in June.
