An award-winning North East architecture practice has acquired an interior design firm as part of a drive to offer new services to its clients.

Newcastle’s Ryder Architecture, which was last week named national Architectural Practice of the Year at the Building Awards 2021, has acquired fellow city firm Ward Robinson Design.

The two companies and their staff have worked together on projects for more than 20 years and said that they shared “ethos and values”.

Ryder added that the acquisition would “add greater value and further diversity to the breadth of services offered to clients”.

Managing partner Mark Thompson said: “We are proud to announce Ward Robinson is now part of Ryder. Welcoming the talented team into the business is a great conclusion to 2021.

“Our Queen’s Enterprise Award for International Trade, winning Building’s Architectural Practice of the Year and receiving world class status in Best Companies to Work For are proof that it’s all about the team.”

Ryder Architecture was established in 1953 in Newcastle and has since branched out to have offices in London, Glasgow, Liverpool, Hong Kong, Vancouver and Amsterdam. Earlier this year it also added an office in Manchester, creating 18 new jobs.
