A North East accountancy firm has taken on 40 new recruits ahead of what it believes will be a positive period for the North East economy.

MHA Tait Walker, which is based in Newcastle but has a number of offices around the North, has taken on graduates and apprentices but also managers and executives to strengthen its teams in accounts, tax, corporate finance and wealth management.

The expansion has in particular seen the strengthening of the company’s Stockton office, with growth in the Tees Valley being a strategic focus for the company.

MHA Tait Walker - which is part of the national MHA accountancy network and the global Baker Tilly group - is the latest professional services firm to target the Teesside area following a string of positive Government announcements for the area through Conservative mayor Ben Houchen.

Andrew Moorby, managing partner of MHA Tait Walker said: “The growth of the Stockton office is integral to the firm’s plans for expansion and will support the already evolving business community in the region.

“The area has a bright future, and we are focused on supporting the region’s business owners and the community with an locally based, highly skilled team.”

The Stockton office will be overseen by Lesley Stabler, who recently joined MHA Tait Walker from Azets as an associate.
