New chief executive to take reins at Gateley

Mike Ward will step down from the post next year but stay on as board director and shareholder

Rod Waldie has been appointed the new chief executive of Gateley

Listed legal and professional services group Gateley has appointed a new chief executive.

Rod Waldie, who is currently senior office partner of its Manchester operation and head of the national property team, will take over from incumbent Michael Ward next May.

Mr Ward, who is based at the firm’s head office in Birmingham, will remain on as a main board director and be responsible for the non-legal businesses within the group.

He will also retain a significant shareholding in Gateley for the foreseeable future.

Gateley floated on the AIM exchange in 2015 and now runs several separate professional services divisions across the group encompassing legal, property, financial and business psychology.

It was founded as a law firm in Birmingham in 1808.

Mr Waldie has been a member of the group's management board since joining the business via the acquisition of the Manchester office of Halliwells in 2010.

Michael Ward will step down from his post next year

He has been involved in the successful integration of a number of Gateley's post-float acquisitions including Gateley Capitus, Gateley Hamer and GCL Solicitors.
