Two top regional lawyers have left a major TV production company to set up their own law firm in Plymouth, focusing on corporate finance deals and media work
Tim Jackman and Duncan White have quit Plymouth-based Twofour Group to set up White Jackman at Plymouth Science Park where they will specialise in corporate, commercial, media and intellectual property law – and enjoy watching wild deer frolicking in the grounds.
Mr Jackman and Mr White have, between them, almost 40 years’ experience working for top London and regional law firms, as well as TwoFour, one of the country’s largest television and digital media production companies.
Prior to becoming the first director of legal and business affairs at multi-award winning Twofour , Mr Jackman led the south west corporate finance team at Bond Pearce, now Womble Bond Dickinson, based in Plymouth.

During his time at Bond Pearce he advised management teams on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity investment, restructurings, exit plans and a raft of commercial arrangements. He was involved in some of the biggest transactions in the region.
At Twofour he was involved in all legal aspects of the company’s growth to become a leading TV production company and content and communications agency prior to its sale to ITV.
Mr White, who is a member of the Royal Television Society, began his legal career at Bond Dickinson, before going on to spend five years as in-house counsel at Twofour where he was part of the group’s worldwide expansion.
He has experience of advising on the development, financing and production of television and digital media projects, as well as dealing with intellectual property and commercial issues.
Both men are credited as experts in their respective fields in the Legal 500, the legal industry guide to top lawyers. They aim to work across the South West and the national TV and media sectors.
“We have the benefit of working only with clients we want to work with,” said Mr White. “We enjoy their company and working with them. If we cannot add value to a job or a situation we will say so and will ensure we help our client to find an expert who can help them.
‘We operate on a fixed price basis and our experience of working as in-house lawyers means we understand the importance of meeting tight deadlines and adding value, not simply cost.’
White Jackman are delighted to be based at Plymouth Science Park which has been able to offer a unique blend of corporate professionalism within the beauty of woodland and stunning views.
Mr Jackman said they chose PSP because: “The diversity and ambition of many of the businesses at PSP is very exciting for us. That ambition matches our own, and we are excited to be working with some of them already.
“It reminds us of working at Twofour’s Plymouth headquarters, where there was such a positive, energetic and creative vibe which had been instilled from its inception, and yet out the window it was common to see deer in the car park.
‘It was the same on our first day at PSP. There is an array of businesses with energy and ideas, and it’s not unusual to see four or five deer wandering around the site – it’s a fantastic working environment.’
A PSP spokesman said that having corporate, commercial, media and intellectual property legal specialists at the park will be a benefit to the large number of intellectual property rich companies based on the site.
